MainWRLD Community Guidelines
Last Updated: 2026-06-24
MainWRLD is a home for storytellers and readers. These Community Guidelines explain what is welcome on MainWRLD, what is not allowed, and how we keep the community safe. They work alongside, and are part of, our Terms of Service / EULA. By using MainWRLD you agree to follow these guidelines.
1. Mature Content Is Allowed — Pornography Is Not
MainWRLD is a creative-writing platform, and fiction often explores mature themes. Mature themes — including strong language, violence, dark subject matter, and tasteful depictions of sexuality and romance in a narrative context — are allowed, provided the work is correctly marked as Mature by its author.
What is never allowed:
- Pornography — content whose purpose is to be sexually explicit for its own sake rather than to serve a story.
- Any sexual content involving minors, in any form. This is strictly and absolutely prohibited and is reported to the authorities where required by law.
Authors must flag mature works using the “Mature” setting when publishing. Misusing this flag — or failing to flag mature work — is a violation of these guidelines.
2. Controlling What You See: the Mature Content Setting
Readers control whether mature works appear for them. In Settings → “Show mature content,” you can turn mature content on or off. When it is off, mature works are kept out of the Explore feed, and their covers are blurred (with a tap-to-reveal) when you come across them in search. You decide what is right for you.
3. Zero Tolerance for Objectionable Content and Abusive Behavior
We have a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content and for abusive, harassing, or harmful behavior. The following are prohibited anywhere on MainWRLD — in books, chapters, comments, chat, usernames, and profiles:
- Pornographic or sexually exploitative material, and any sexual content involving minors;
- Threats of violence, incitement to violence, or content promoting self-harm;
- Harassment, bullying, stalking, or intimidation of any person;
- Hate speech or attacks on people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or other protected characteristics;
- Content that infringes others’ intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights;
- Spam, fraud, scams, phishing, or deceptive content;
- Malware or other harmful code; and
- Anything otherwise unlawful, or that promotes illegal activity.
4. How We Moderate
We combine automated and human moderation:
- Automated screening. Comments, book titles and synopses, chapter titles and text, chat messages, and signup usernames/display names are screened by an automated content-moderation classifier. Flagged content is removed automatically and recorded for review. This is independent of, and additional to, the Mature flag — the Mature setting governs discovery, not whether prohibited content is allowed (it never is).
- Human review. Reports from users and items flagged by our systems are reviewed by our moderation team, who can remove books and comments, issue strikes, and ban users.
5. Reporting and Blocking
Report. A “Report” control is available on profiles, on books (including while reading), and on comments. When you report, you can tell us why (for example, sexual content, harassment, hate, violence, or spam), and your report is routed to our moderation team.
Block. From a user’s profile, and from Settings → “Blocked Users,” you can block anyone. A blocked user and their content disappear from your experience, and existing follow relationships between you are removed. You can unblock at any time.
Our commitment. When we receive a report of objectionable content or abusive behavior, we review it and — where a violation is found — remove the offending content and/or ban the offending user, typically within 24 hours.
6. Enforcement
Violations may result in content removal, strikes against your account, suspension, or a permanent ban. Accounts that accumulate strikes are banned automatically. Serious violations (such as sexual content involving minors) result in an immediate ban and, where required, a report to law enforcement.
7. Contact Us
